How to avoid road rage

Hey everyone,

I’m back!! yay! LOL Sorry about my disappearance, I’ve been taking a little bit of time t0 collect my thoughts and work on “A is for Alexia” so the next couple of chapters will be uploaded soon.

Now… On to… AVOIDING ROAD RAGE.

*sigh and stands up slowly* “My name is Ms. Perspective, and I have a slight problem with road rage.”  In today’s driving world filled with: speed demons, Ms/Mr. I’m-king/queen-of-the-road, rear bumper huggers, cell phone conversationalists, Last Minute Cut Off-ers, and confused-and-lost-or-slow-reacting drivers,  WHO DOESN’T have a case of road rage from time to time?

I know that I have it at least once a week.  Driving Chicago’s Dan Ryan and the Stevenson drives more than just the car, it DRIVES ME nuts!!! Now I thought about talking on how to avoid accidents, but I thought that road rage might be a better topic.

Here are my TOP 3 tips on how to avoid having a case of road rage:

3- Be aware of your surroundings. Many times when we have road rage, it’s because there’s a close-call (almost having an accident).  If we are aware of the other drivers, we can react accordingly, even if it means giving a little more space around our car.

2. Schedule your car runs appropriately.  Another popular way we get roadrage is when we are stuck in beep-and-creep traffic.  Drivers become impatient and listless, even bloodpressure tends to rise.  If you schedule your driving to avoid these known “high traffic” times, you are significantly lower your chances of getting roadrage.

1. Give yourself TIME and PATIENCE.  Leave the house at least 15min early; if you have extra time so you are not in a hurry to get to your destination, you give yourself the opportunity to have patience with drivers who are “running late and driving aggressively”.

But above everything else, be patient with yourself! Learning to control your impulses/impulsive anger is something that comes with time and practice!

if you can add any other pointers, leave a comment!! Good luck!

Can you say MONEY?????!!!!!!

If you said “yes”, you are DEFINITELY NOT ALONE.  Apparently so can the celebrities that you and I have come to know…. via their work, interviews, and tabloids…

So how did everyone do?

Oprah is ranked #1 (when combining $$ and fame) over $275 MIL earnings before taxes.

Beyonce’ is #4 over $80 MIL

50 Cent #26   over $150 MIL

Angelina Jolie #3

Am I the only one who is thinking that is absurd? That’s one of the reasons that entertainment has gotten to where it is now… <<insert place here>>  It’s one thing to think “I want to be a Singer/Model/Basketball player when I grow up”… I mean hey… we all thought that. BUT there is a SHORTAGE of nurses, teachers, etc…. why? because all our children want to work in the entertainment industry or another industry where they can make LOTS of money…

True enough.. money drives the lifestyle you lead, but when did entertainment trump the pursuit of knowledge? think about that.

Bed Buddies…. ?

I was talking to a friend of mine, and somehow we started talking about relationships or lack of… I began to wonder about relationships in 2008.

Have relationships really turned into versions of bust-it-babies, bed buddies, or friends-with-benefits?

I’ve heard a lot of opinions and they break down to the following (I’m going to tell you what I’ve heard, then give my perspective):

1. The Sex Demon- lol… these are people who just want to have the sex without the responsibilities of maintaining a relationship. These are the people who call ONLY when they are arranging for a booty call… self centered, they usually only meet when it benefits them (ie… when THEY need some… not when the other party does)

2. The Scardity Cat- These are people who want to have sex and intimacy of a relationship without the title…. (they are afraid of labeling their situation and then not living up to the expectation). These are the people who will act like they are in a progressive relationship, but are emotionally cut off. They run everytime “titles” are mentioned, and usually have the “me too, or whatever is fine” attitude.

3. The Pet Killers- these are people who want the appearance of a relationship but for whatever reason won’t maintain a relationship. (work, school, family obligations, etc etc).  They tend to only make time occasionally… kind of like the weekend relationship or “sometimes”. but they always forget, or you are low on their priority list… so like pets who haven’t been tended to in weeks…. the situations dies.

4. The flamingo- those are people who get into these situations hoping that EVENTUALLY it will grow into something more… Now these people KNOW that the situation will NEVER grow into something more… but they choose to hide their head in the sand instead of acknowledging what the other person says…

***I believe that in a society where everyone wants instant gratification…. it is inevitable that relationships will reflect that desire (in the forms of bed buddies, bustit babies…etc)….

**Smile** I find that I’m not in any bed buddy category (I don’t do the bustit baby thing)…. but I do fall into one of the relationship types… (TBD later)

So.. What do you think?

Your paycheck is liquid?… gas that is.

Today, I’m talking about the topic that everyone has been talking about…. (and I’m not talking politics)…

If you think I’m talking about gas prices, money saving tips, and general discontent about the high prices… nope I’m not talking about that either- well maybe just a little bit.

Most I want to talk about solutions!! By now, everyone knows that not using as much petroleum is better for the environment, cheaper on your budgets, etc etc…

but what and how can we fix it????!!!  Last year, gas prices topped $3.00 a gallon, and many people staged protests (didn’t purchase gas on certain days or at certain stations etc…). Now, a year later gas is topping $4.00 a gallon, and forecasters are predicting it to cost even more.

I think the solution is a 2 part solution: for the immediate issues- we need cars, homes, equipment, etc that run on alternative fuels.  **there are conversion/converters available to convert your gas operating cars to ones that are fuel flexible**  for some info http://www.eere.energy.gov/afdc/vehicles/conversions.html#converters

But the 2nd part of the solution is: BE ACTIVE IN YOUR COMMUNITY!!  The politicians are elected by YOU.  While their pockets are getting fatter (from their investment in oil, energy, and everything else)… we are stuck with the prices, and salaries are not paying what they used to…

WRITE YOUR REPRESENTATIVES, CALL THEM, VISIT, do whatever you can-within legal means- to have YOUR voice heard!!

and oh yeah….since I said I would talk briefly about my disdain and whatever…

THE HIGH PRICES are HORRIBLE!!! We, as CONSUMERS, need to come together….ultimately WE DRIVE the MARKET!!!!!

and… here are 6 ways to save money in your tank.

1. BE AWARE OF YOUR DRIVING HABITS- HAVING A LEAD FOOT IS EXPENSIVE!!

2. TAKE CARE OF YOUR BABY- YOUR CAR THAT IS….

this means: keep your engine tuned, air filters clean/changed, tires properly inflated, and use the recommended oil.

3. CLEAN YOUR DIRTY CAR OUT- unnecessary items add weight to your car. it’s not rocket science… heavy objects need more energy to move….

4. DO THE SPEED LIMIT AND DRIVE LIKE YOU HAVE SOME SENSE!!!

5. TRY NOT TO KEEP YOUR CAR IN IDLE. IF YOU ARE WAITING FOR SOMEONE AT THE STORE, JUST TURN THE CAR OFF. (you waste less fuel by turning it off, then back on…. than idling)

6. LOOK FOR A FUEL EFFICIENT, HYBRID, FLEX FUEL, OR ALTERNATIVE FUEL OPERATED VEHICLE.

(if u cannot afford it…. start saving, send PLENTY of emails, letters, etc to your representative, and use steps 1-5)…

***with that… I’m GONE***
